WHO I AM
Art has always been my passion and since I was very young I wanted to be an artist. After getting a degree in art, I found a mentor in Henry Hensche, who taught the way Monet used color and how he looked at light. The main idea behind the Impressionists way of painting was that the subject of the painting was light and atmosphere and how they affected the color of objects. When the sun illuminates nature there is a prismatic effect, which produces many different refractions of colors.
The Monet tradition trains the eye to see all of these colors, which are then recorded on the canvas in the correct proportions so that the overall effect is one of depth in the shadows, sunlight in the light areas, and an accurate record of a moment of outdoor light.
I use many layers of color to build an area and make it look like it is in outdoor light. My paintings are filled with the brilliant colors that I see in nature and the result is that the viewer also sees the variations of color that the light produces. Then when the eye of the viewer returns to nature, it is more keyed into seeing the true variety of color. I studied with Hensche and later his students every summer in Provincetown, MA for over 10 years.
My interest in architectural rendering gave me a commercial vehicle in which to function as an artist for many years while dveloping my painting technique.
Then, I became interested in web design in
1998 and began reading and studying the subject. At that time it was hard
to begin a career in Web Design without extensive computer background. So
I bought a computer and began learning. Beginning with classes
in AutoCAD, I later expanded to the graphic arts software programs. Because of my success
with these programs, I have been working full-time with them for several
years. Resuming my interest in web design, I recently enrolled and completed
a double certificate program in Graphic and Web Design and now do free-lance web and graphic design.
